March 2008
Designers, agencies and the media from Germany and all around the world met in Munich at the TOCA-ME design conference on 23rd February in order to discuss the current status and the future of design.
The interest for this year’s conference was overwhelming. The event in Munich’s Reithalle was sold out already weeks in advance. For its third time the design and communication studio TOCA ME invited some of the most outstanding and renowned designers and newcomers from around the world in order to discuss the future and various perspectives of design. More than 750 designers, creative people, representatives of big media firms as well as of publishing companies and tv channels used this unique forum in order to collect and exchange information.
One of the presenters who caused quite a stir was the trio dvein from Barcelona. The Spanish newcomers showed exciting motiongraphics pieces fully appealing to the audience. The Canadian James Peterson surprised with his animated illustrations and loosened up the atmosphere. In contrast to him the presentation of Andy Cameron from Benetton’s creative centre Fabrica polarised with vanguard assumptions of the future of design providing lots of discussion material for the creative night that followed and lasted till two in the morning.
The next TOCA ME design conference is planned to take place in spring 2009.
