Description:
As a member of the agency's onsite team at the world's leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software for gaming systems, the Copywriter is responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading content for primarily game manuals but also a diverse range of other projects including other marketing materials for both trade and consumer application. This position will lead both the staff writers as well as a pool of freelancers to meet the workload.
Some of your primary duties include:
# Communicating the specified manual content for each game consistently across all formats. For the marketing materials, the assignment will be to communicate in an appropriate brand voice for each category or product line. Collaborating with the Game Developers for the manuals and the Marketing team members to develop and communicate brand positioning and messaging. Effectively communicating to the consumer our product features, benefits, technologies and usage's.
# This position will manage the embedded staff writers and a group of freelance writers.
# Responsible for assigning the work and ensuring that each writer has the pertinent project information including all key contacts, timelines and work materials.
# Coordinating the writing elements with Project Managers to meet milestones and final deadlines.
# Responsible for managing the outside costs for the freelance hires and getting them set up for timely payment.
# Responsible to attend all general agency and client meetings to communicate status, issues and resources
# Collaborating with Marketing team members to create effective content for marketing materials.
# Writing creative copy for press kits, brochures, workbooks, and consumer promotions.
# Working with all product managers to craft concise product descriptions, learn genre/category product lines, and technologies.
# Operating as part of the embedded writer's team as well as the overall account team.
# Writing concise product usage statements for all technical, equipment, and gameplay requirements.
# Creating and maintaining a content database for all product and technology descriptions and usages.
# Editing and proofreading extensive technical content and specifications for accuracy.
# Understanding, distilling, and communicating complex gameplay, rules and specific technologies to consumers.
# Using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and structure throughout all materials created.
Requirements:
We are looking for an individual with a BA/BS degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field. 5+ years minimum technical and creative writing experience, preferably within the Videogame industry or related software/media field. Proven experience writing for different audiences in different voices, excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented with an exceptional talent for proofreading, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Acrobat, and PowerPoint are required. Ability to work independently and prioritizing projects effectively and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment are necessary.
