March 2008
Siemens has today appointed General Counsels for its three Sectors, business Regions worldwide and Corporate Units. As members of management, the General Counsels will participate closely in and have a responsibility for operational and strategic decision-making. They will report directly to Peter Y. Solmssen, the member of Siemens’ Managing Board responsible for legal and compliance matters. With this step, Siemens has created an integrated, top-to-bottom chain of command for legal functions in addition to its finance, audit and compliance organizations.
“The General Counsels will not just give legal advice. More importantly, they will have a formative role and decision-making function in business operations. Their responsibilities in this key position will go considerably beyond merely identifying risks,” said Peter Y. Solmssen, member of the Managing Board and General Counsel of Siemens AG.
