Advertising and Design Excellence On Show in Tokyo

March 2008

The D Awards 2007 Exhibition launched at the Advertising Museum Tokyo (ADMT) last week, with over 650 visitors on the first day alone. Co-organized with the Yoshida Hideo Memorial Foundation, Creative Excellence in Advertising Design is D’s first full-scale exhibition in Japan. It includes work from some of the world’s most famous brands including Nike, Nintendo, and Dove. Admission to the exhibition is free and it will remain open until 5 April 2008.

The UK-based organisation announced a series of invitation-only events led by top British designers Mr. Simon Waterfall and Mr. Michael Johnson. They include seminars for college students and a forum with eminent designers, Mr. Teruo Kurosaki, CEO of sasugasouzoushuudan and Mr. Satoshi Takamatsu, CEO/Creative Director of ground. The D Forum is being held in partnership with The Asahi Shimbun.

“We are delighted by the support we have received from our sponsor and partners to take the D Exhibition and events to Tokyo this year,’ said D Chief Executive, Dara Lynch. “Japan has a long history of outstanding design and advertising and we look forward to the exchange of ideas about creative excellence between the UK and Japan.”

The D Awards recognise the most outstanding creativity in advertising and design from around the world each year. Categories include copywriting, art direction, graphic design, environmental design, music videos, branding, and digital communication. Nominees and winners from the 2007 awards will be showcased in the exhibition.
