Longtime Mercedes-Benz design chief Peter Pfeiffer will retire sometime in the next 12 months, the company announced. A successor will be named soon, it said.
According to industry reports, Gorden Wagener is the most likely candidate to replace him. He has been president of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design of North America since early 2006.
Pfeiffer, who turns 65 this year, joined Mercedes-Benz in 1968 and became head of design in 1978.
