NCTA Announces Keynote Speakers for 2008’s A CEO Conversation

The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA), the primary voice of the technology industry in North Carolina, announced the keynote speakers for this year’s A CEO Conversation, to be held Thursday, April 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Imperial in Durham. Speakers for the 2008 event include Jim Whitehurst, president and CEO of Red Hat, Inc., the Honorable Perrin Beatty, president and CEO for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Bob Greenberg, general manager, IT Optimization and Service Management & Senior State Executive for North Carolina, IBM, and Dr. Chris Kuehl, managing director and co-founder of Armada Corporate Intelligence.

“We are extremely pleased to offer such dynamic leaders as this year’s keynote speakers for A CEO Conversation,” said Peter Hermann, NCTA president and CEO. “These individuals are extremely well-suited to address the high-level of attendees at this event, and discuss their own experiences in relation to what makes a good leader and how to overcome challenges to position a company for success both in North Carolina and globally.”

Jim Whitehurst, president and CEO, Red Hat

Jim Whitehurst has recently been named president and chief executive officer of Red Hat. Whitehurst joined Delta Airlines in 2002, serving in various roles, most recently as chief operating officer. Prior to joining Delta, Whitehurst served as vice president and director of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and held various leadership roles in the Chicago, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Atlanta offices.

The Honorable Perrin Beatty, president and CEO, Canadian Chamber of Commerce

The Honorable Perrin Beatty has served as president and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce since August 2007. Prior to joining the chamber, Beatty was president and CEO of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, and was previously president and CEO of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). Beatty has held a number of positions in the House of Commons as a Progressive Conservative, and serves on a number of Canadian government advisory committees, covering issues that include national security, border management, privacy and international trade.

Bob Greenburg, general manager, IT Optimization and Service Management & Senior State Executive for North Carolina, IBM

Greenburg has held a diverse series of assignments within IBM since joining the company in 1977, including positions in technology, systems design, manufacturing, software, test, marketing and corporate headquarters. Throughout Greenburg’s career with IBM, he has served as vice president of strategy for the RS/6000 division, vice president and business transformation executive for IBM Global Services, CIO and vice president for on-demand technology enablement and general manager of the IBM Global Account. Prior to his current position, Greenburg was vice president of the IBM server and storage/data services product lines.

Dr. Chris Kuehl, managing director and co-founder of Armada Corporate Intelligence

In addition to his position at Armada, Kuehl also serves as chief economist for the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, and is editor and publisher of two publications, Strategic Global Intelligence and Business Intelligence Briefs. Formerly, Kuehl was managing partner of global marketing for Revolution Marketing and Advertising, and was founder of the Global Group. Since 1986, Kuehl has also held faculty positions at a number of colleges and universities around the world teaching courses on international business, strategic planning, economics and finance.
