This week at SAP’s Sapphire 2008 event, Coghead is demonstrating a radically new way to create and manage “situational applications” that are integrated with SAP applications. Coghead’s platform-as-a-service (PaaS) approach makes it easy for people with limited technical skills and infrastructure to build and deploy “situational applications,” which are small, custom applications that address the internal needs of workgroups or help coordinate information with supply chain partners, customers and remote offices. The demonstration will take place in Coghead’s booth #E15 at SAPPHIRE 2008 , Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla.
“Most ‘situational application’ needs in the enterprise continue to be addressed through the use of spreadsheets and desktop databases, in spite of the obvious limitations of those approaches,” said Greg Olsen, Coghead’s founder and CTO. “Not only does Coghead’s service-based platform provide a more manageable approach, but the business process and data modeling capabilities of the platform facilitate a much broader class of applications.”
“‘Situational applications’ have long been a neglected but important class of customer needs,” said Padman Ramankutty, CEO of Intrigo Systems, an SAP-focused consultancy. “Coghead’s web-based approach will dramatically simplify the process of creating and delivering these small but mission-critical business applications across a company’s network.”
Coghead.com is among the top five percent of most-visited web properties worldwide. The company’s 100-percent web-based development platform provides a simple, powerful way for developers, tech-savvy business users, and IT professionals to create, manage, and deploy custom software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications. Coghead’s platform serves the many people and enterprise groups whose application needs fall outside of the scope of their current spreadsheets, databases and packaged or custom-built applications. Coghead’s growing community of 35,000 developers create and publish applications in a matter of hours or days, at a fraction of the cost of large packaged applications or custom development projects.
