Frost & Sullivan recognizes Emageon with the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award in the field of unified and interconnected clinical image repository compliant with open standards. Emageon is commended for its 5.30.8 release offering superior software-based processing of medical images, aiding doctors in making advanced diagnosis from clinical images and other relevant patient data.
“The 5.30.8 release provides the healthcare industry (hospitals and healthcare units) with key components designed to access and manage large volumes of medical images in a cost effective and efficient manner,” says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Abhishek Dutta. “This platform technological innovation will significantly impact conventional methods of diagnosis due to its capability of providing advanced data processing software that facilitates better diagnosis.”
The technology behind 5.30 supports compliance with international standards such as DICOM and HL7 with robust content management for cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, nuclear cardiography, vascular ultrasound, and hemodynamic monitoring. Moreover, the 5.30.8 release has advanced image assistive visualization systems for various applications including RadSuite™ (radiology), HeartSuite™ (cardiovascular), MammoSuite™ (breast imaging) and OrthoSuite™ (orthopaedics). “Efforts to develop enhancements and add functionality to Emageon’s existing advanced visualization software are targeted to meet the needs of other clinical specialties, including emergency medicine, orthopedics, oncology, pathology, obstetrics, gynecology, and neurology,” notes Dutta.
“Emageon’s efforts in clinical information system technology development, as well as its overall initiatives in integrating these systems make it a worthy recipient of this award,” observes Dutta. “The company’s efforts to integrate a data repository with automated interconnections among various patient imaging systems are commendable, and only serve to highlight the potential that exists for such unified and well networked data repository in this industry. Going further, the company is poised at a significant position in the industry, from where it could also expand its content management beyond DICOM data.”
