Australia’s top industrial designers will gather in Sydney this Friday 30 May to recognise and celebrate the best of Australian design.
A communication-enabled electronic earplug, indestructible wireless messaging tool, international test series cricket helmet, microwave combination oven, garden pruner set, manual wheelchair, sporty coupe, trucking trailer system and passenger lounge are just a few of the products shortlisted for the 2008 Australian International Design Awards.
This year 61 products are vying for the top industry accolade of Australian International Design Award of the Year and 13 student design finalists are fighting it out in the Australian Design Award – Dyson Student Award.
A division of Standards Australia, the Australian International Design Awards is Australia’s longest standing product design awards program, recognising design excellence and innovation in Australia. This year, the program is celebrating 50 years of rewarding and promoting design excellence.
Products including the Cochlear implant, Solar Sailor Ferry and Ford Territory have been recognised for their design excellence in previous years.
