The AD Club's 112th Annual Meeting of Members
PRESS RELEASE

July 2008

On July 16th, The ADVERTISING Club celebrated 112 years of business at the Annual Meeting of Members taking place at the Kitano Penthouse in New York City; it was a beautiful evening, with members, networking, enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and the NY skyline.

They took some time out of the evening to honor and recognize those who have made significant contributions this year in all areas of the Club, for their dedication on making a change in the area of Membership both Steve Block of Euro RSCG and Jeff Grill of Mimeo were recognized with President Awards.

Next, they honored, Christine McCarthy for her commitment as the Young Professional President; because of her efforts, they now have a dedicated Steering Committee navigating the programming and social networking aspects of our young and upcoming leaders of tomorrow.

For all her efforts, surrounding the issue of Diversity and for the launch of the ADCOLOR Awards, The Club honor Tiffany Warren for this unprecedented industry coalition to recognize people of color succeeding and thriving in this industry.

The Club is fortunate to have a dynamic and engaged Board of Directors; the following were honored with President Awards, Gill Duff of Publicis and Marketing Consultant, Brad Jakeman. Both joined the Board just one short year ago and have had an impressive start – joining important Club initiatives and bringing the breadth of their experiences to the greater conversation. For all his work through the years, we thank our Treasurer Ron Fierman. Last honored with a Presidents Award was, Thom Gruhler as Senior Vice President and next Club President, he is always a phone call away and willing to address any issues facing them.

The Club's Rising Star award went to Emily Wilcox, Account Executive at DDB, based on her motivation and enthusiasm, she was selected out of dozens of Young Professionals to receive this award.

This year they added another type of recognition award -- one from the heart -- to recognize those few who give and truly believe their mission and they love this business. Everyone knows them because they have been an integral part of the Club for many years and hopefully many more to come, Joanne Davis; Sharon Spielman and Leslie Winthrop.

The following Board Members are retiring this year, Mary Baglivo, Saatchi & Saatchi; Jack Hanrahan, CircMatters; John Johnston, Marketing Consultant; Marc Schwartz, Novartis and Donna Speciale, Mediavest.

The evening ended with the announcement of the 2008-2009 Board of Directors.
