Red Dawn Communications (RDC), Singapore's first cross media entertainment marketing agency, announced its partnership with PICNIC ’08, Europe’s leading annual creative media festival focusing on media, entertainment and technology. RDC hopes to bring creative minds from the Asia Pacific region to PICNIC in Amsterdam in the Netherlands this September as part of the agency’s initiative to promote collaborative creativity. More than 5,000 international professionals from the creative industries – including media, entertainment, the arts, design and the sciences – gather each year at PICNIC to discuss ideas, re-imagine their businesses, and exchange creative business concepts.
PICNIC’08 will take place from 24 to 26 September 2008 at the Westergasfabriek, a converted gasworks in Amsterdam. Vastly different from other conference, PICNIC’08 is a top-level professional conference (the PICNIC Conference), an extensive programme of focused seminars and workshops (the PICNIC Specials and Labs), and an international competition to invent a green product or service – the PICNIC GreenChallenge, fuelled by the Dutch Postcode Lottery.
The main theme of PICNIC’08 is “Collaborative Creativity” in its many guises. This year, PICNIC 08 will look at new and connected forms of intelligence and creativity, from the fields of entertainment, science, the arts and business. From the global brain to crowd-sourced design, from data visualization techniques to fostering creativity; from connected cities to connected souls: in a series of ground-breaking presentations, discussions and debates, creative minds will explore the future of collaborative creativity and its implications .

It is a dizzying festival of ideas that includes top class entertainment, public lectures, master classes, art performances, demo sessions, pitch events, games, awards, press conferences and product launches! It is definitely the place to be for all individuals looking for a inspiring, imaginative and innovative 3 days of collaborative creativity,” said Marleen Stikker, co-founder of PICNIC.

A lineup of top international speakers will present new and connective forms of intelligence and creativity. They include thinkers like Clay Shirky, author of Here Comes Everybody; Charles Leadbeater, author of We Think; and Jeff Jarvis, author of What Google Would Do. There will also be entrepreneurs like Kevin Wall, who brought the world into action with the Live Earth concerts; Loic LeMeur, who will give his video service Seesmic its Netherlands launch at PICNIC; and Rafi Haladjian, who will present Nabaztag, his online smart rabbit service. Speakers like IDEO’s Bill Moggridge, the designer of the first laptop; Philips Design director Stefano Marzano; and Nokia’s Young Hee Chung will discuss mass user design processes, while Pixar leader Michael Johnson will explore building new worlds.And collaborative creativity plays its part in the music industry, too: Pim Betist of Sellaband will talk about encouraging listeners to invest in bands, and conductor Itay Talgam will show how collaborativity works in creating music.
Picnic 07 featured a demonstration of 4K digital cinema and speakers that attended included entreprenur Richard Branson, actor Woody Harrelson, alternative comic book artist Paul Pope, Stefan Sagmeister, one the worlds most original and influential designers and notorious hacker Pablos
