The 22nd Annual International ARC Awards, the world's largest annual report competition, awarded Neenah Paper the Grand Award in the category of Best Overall Presentation and Creative Approach for its 2007 Annual Report. Designed by the award-winning brand strategy and communications design firm Addison of New York, the annual report is a stunning example of how premium paper and extraordinary design can elevate a message.
An annual report is a window into a company, offering a rare opportunity for any public company to tell its story from its own perspective. The 2007 Annual Report, titled “All Together Now,” is a visual expression of a balanced and integrated Neenah Paper.
“The photography, illustration and typography all express the idea of ‘coming together’ in various ways, with elements that are overlapped, interlocked, joined, mirrored and woven together. The cover features a number of major elements from the narrative, literally printed ‘all together’ to create a unique and unified image,” explained Richard Colbourne, creative director at Addison. “In similar fashion, different color papers are used in the financial section and unified by the financial story that runs throughout. In all, eight of Neenah's premium fine paper grades work together to create a rich and tactile experience within the book.”
Currently operating three profitable lines of business—fine paper, technical products and pulp—Neenah Paper is very different than when it spun off as a stand-alone company in 2004. Although this change is visually reflected in the annual report, the book conceptually reflects the progress of Neenah’s impressive growth and where it is headed.
