The design duo known as Viktor & Rolf decided to save some money and be low-key this season by holding a runway show without guests.
Instead, Dutch designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren filmed their Spring 2009 runway show last week with supermodel Shalom Harlow, who wore each look, including three dresses laden with Swarovski crystals that weigh 20 kilos, according to a publicist.
Viktor & Rolf are known for their theatrical shows - which have included having each model carry her own lighting and music system, and trench coats with 3-D words like "WOW" popping out of them.
Ms. Harlow, filmed walking down a single white runway surrounded by rows of empty chairs, was edited to appear as if multiple models were in the show.
It took more than 50 technicians to create the video and the experiment’s tab cost as much as a show would have, says a spokeswoman.
But the good news is, everyone can enjoy a front-row seat.
