Chelsea Old Town Hall, London
United Kingdom
1 November - 4 November 2008
The second Handmade in Britain event takes place in November and will provide an opportunity for up and coming jewellery designer-makers to show their work to the public.
Held at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London, the event is a showcase for the best new design talent, while also promoting an ethical approach to handcrafts and jewellery.
All exhibitors work in the UK and aim to keep their carbon footprint down by locally sourcing materials as much as possible.
In addition to hand-crafted jewellery there will also be fashion and textiles, ceramics, tableware, stationery and a range of home accessories on show from over 60 designers.
The show is part of the Handmade in Britain initiative which was set up by designer-maker Piyush Suri with the aim of maintaining the high standard in the British craft sector and creating market opportunities for buying craft.
It provides a platform for new designer-makers to start their own business while supporting them through training workshops.
It also focuses on supporting eco-friendly and low carbon footprint level handcrafted products.
