American Society of Landscape Architects Inducts 2009 Officers
PRESS RELEASE

October 2008

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) inducted Angela Dye, FASLA, as the 61st president of the 18,200 member Society during the 2008 Annual Meeting and EXPO in Philadelphia.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Dye is the founder of the landscape architecture firm A DYE DESIGN, Inc.

She specializes in context-sensitive design of transportation, transit, urban design, recreation, and public art-oriented projects. Whether in natural or urban space, her firm works with the public sector to infill existing communities, create a sense of place, and honor natural and cultural systems.

She is the immediate past Arizona Chapter ASLA trustee, immediate past ASLA Vice President of Government Affairs, and past chair of ASLA's Government Affairs Advisory Committee.

In her first speech as ASLA president, Dye encouraged her peers to, "Instill passion, channel energy, and let people at home know how important your work is to solving global issues. Be bold. Be a visionary. Be a landscape architect in the fullest definition of the word-through your stewardship, community activism, and solution based design."

President-elect is Gary Scott, FASLA, of Iowa. He is the current director of Parks and Recreation for the city of West Des Moines. Scott's induction as president-elect continues over two decades of leadership within ASLA, including the position as ASLA vice president of finance and chair of the finance and investments committee, as well as president and trustee of the Iowa ASLA chapter.

He received his bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1980.
