Since its establishment in 1896, The Japan Wool Textile Co. Ltd. (Nikke) has steadily pressed forward in improving quality and developing technology, supporting its leadership position as a comprehensive wool products manufacturer.
These ongoing efforts have earned Nikke trust and respect for the role it has played in supporting the development of Japan's textiles industry. From its formative days, Nikke has been broadening its development of new business opportunities.
Now the largest manufacturer of wool in Japan is developing a special line of Tasmanian grown wool that will be certified to be chemical free by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).
Nikke said, “We will purchase Tasmanian wool that meets the ‘EU-ECO” standards and all the wool will be issued an “EU-ECO CERT” certificate by CSIRO. After acquiring the certificate, it will be scoured at Nikke Port Phillip Scouring Pty., our mill in Victoria, Australia.”
They added by saying that “then it will be exported to Japan for conversion in to yarns and textiles at Nikke Ichinomiya factory.
The yarn and textile we manufacture will be sold as authentic 100% Tasmanian Eco-friendly wool products.
In addition, we will have a traceability system for the Tasmanian wool so that our clients will be able to know, as to from which farm those wool come from.”
