For one of the 200 students who participates in the International Student workshop during Icograda Design Week in Seattle, from 9-12 July 2006, there will be an opportunity to extend the experience in Italy.

Participants in the Student Workshop will be eligible to win a two-week trial internship at Fabrica, the Benetton research centre on communication.

In Seattle, design students will join a small classroom environment, led by leading design educators and practitioners, to workshop subject matter based on the UN Millennium Development Goals. Marisol Sanjines, a communications advisor with the UN's Human Development Programme, will introduce the student workshop theme and provide perspective on the UN's Millennium Goals. Workshop leaders include: Tarek Atrissi (The Netherlands); Sean Bolan (United States); Cristina Chiappini (Italy); Halim Choueiry (Qatar); Lorraine Gauthier (Canada); Andrea Marks (United States); Alejandro Quinto (Canada); Chang Sik Kim (South Korea); Maurice Woods (United States); Henk Van Essen (United States).

At the end of the four day program, leaders will nominate two students from each of the 10 groups as candidates for the internship position. The winner will be selected by an international committee including Omar Vulpinari, creative director of the Visual Communication Department at Fabrica (Italy); Russell Kennedy, Icograda's Vice President in charge of the Icograda Education Network (Australia) and Christopher Ozubko, Director of the School of Art at the University of Washington (United States).

Posters produced during the Student Workshop will be showcased during the Over the Fence Seminar.
