In partnership with HollyNorth Production Supplies and Duocom, BC Fashion Week will provide to their designers a stage that combines multi-media, technology and creative ingenuity. The runway for this season will be U-shaped, 100 feet in total length and 5 feet wide. Venue capacity for Fall/Winter 2006 will include 70 front row seats.
In collaboration with the BC Fashion Week Executive Creative Director, Urban Visuals and Duocom (both known internationally for their quality staging and audio-visual expertise), HollyNorth has created a venue that will be unlike anything that has been offered in Vancouver before. With a runway that is comprised of mirrored plexiglass to create an impression of infinite icy depth and a specially treated surface fashioned to a finished hoar frost look, winter will arrive in Vancouver in April this year.
"The special surface has been custom cut, creating two striking pinstripes of high contrast, with the end result being a runway with a quarried look, much like a slab of marble with its smooth facet and textured edges. With special effects such as atmosphere, artificial falling snow, lite ethereal ground fog, heavy cascading fog and cryo-jets, each program promises to offer a unique setting for the excellent Canadian designs being showcased", explained Mike Kaerne, President/GM of HollyNorth Production Supplies.
"Working with HollyNorth has been an exceptional opportunity", states BC Fashion Week Executive Creative Director Vladimir Markovich. "The creativity and innovation of this talented team, along with our other valued partners, has been a complete pleasure to work with. For us at BC Fashion Week, one of our main goals is being able to all work together to deliver our signature high standard, professional productions for our great Canadian designers", Markovich continued.
With the final lineup including Mara Gottler, Shelly Klassen for Blushing Designs, Anna Kosturova, Revelation by Rubina Anjum, David Dixon, Tiger of Sweden, Vata Brasil, and DC Women along with returning designers Rozemerie Cuevas for JC Studio, Pierre Jale, Jason Matlo, Christina Culver for Christina Darling and Chloe Angus, the stage and schedule is set for a week showcasing Fall/Winter 2006 individual designer collections. Details on the designers and the complete schedule can be found at www.bcfashionweek.com.
In addition to the industry events at the Scotiabank Dance Centre, the week kicks off with a seminar series held on Tuesday, April 4th. With leading edge speakers covering topics as rich and diverse as trend forecasting for Fall/Winter 2007, to incorporating e-strategy into a marketing plan, the day will be full of valuable insights and topics. A component of the day will be a roundtable discussion on incorporating the press into a communication plan, including corporate social responsibility into a business plan and a roundtable discussion on metrosexuality. Tickets for this seminar series can be reserved and purchased by contacting info@bcfashionweek.com.
