UNIQLO: Official T-shirt Design, 2009 Cannes International Advertising Festival

UNIQLO joins hands with Cannes International Advertising Festival to produce official T-shirt Design open to applicants worldwide. The "2009 Cannes Lions T-shirt Grand Prix" competition aims to create the most suitable T-shirt design for the leading creative ad festival in the world.

After winning the Cannes Lions Grand Prix in 2008, UNIQLO is to produce an official T-shirt for the same Grand Prix in 2009, and they have decided to invite people from all over the world to design a memorable T-shirt suitable for distribution at the 2009 Cannes Lions event.

A Grand Prix-winning design will be commercialized as a T-shirt for distribution at Cannes Lions 2009. And, all 10 selected entries will be adopted for T-shirts to be sold at UNIQLO stores.

UNIQLO won the Grand Prix in the Titanium and Cyber Sections at the 2008 Cannes Lions advertising festival for its web-based UNIQLOCK global promotion tool.

The Cannes Lions recognized UNIQLO's creativity with its award and then later, when the organizers of the Cannes Lions began to see the potential media value of the T-shirt, cooperation was forged between the organizers and UNIQLO, the developer of T-shirts, as media to promote individual expression.

The end result has been the creation of an official T-shirt. In order to attain the very best possible design, UNIQLO has decided to transform this T-shirt creation into a worldwide design competition.

The 2009 Cannes Lions judges will screen the entries and select the T-shirt design that they feel most suitable for the leading creative advertising festival in the world.

The subject for this UNIQLO official T-shirt design competition must focus on the "lion", the symbol of the Cannes International Advertising Festival. As long as the basic material involves the lion theme, the applicant is free to design the T-shirt however he/she wishes.

Ten entries from among the submitted designs will be selected and one entry is to receive the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix-winning design will be commercialized as a T-shirt for distribution to guests and members of the media at Cannes Lions 2009.

And, T-shirts based on all 10 designs selected will be sold in UNIQLO stores.
