The American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists (AATCC) held its annual meeting at the Radisson Hotel in RTP, where Executive Vice President John Y. Daniels announced the results of the election for president-elect and other board positions.
In recent years, most candidates have run unopposed, but this year there were two contested races that generated considerable interest and participation among the Association’s members. R. Michael Tyndall, Cotton Incorporated, was voted president-elect in a close election.
Regional board members Adam R. Varley, Vartest Laboratories Inc., Guddo S. Nadiger, Ministry of Textiles for the Government of India, Alfred K. F. So, Introtech Ltd., Leonard T. Farias, Cotton Incorporated, Richard A. Malachowski, Cranston Print Works, Susan W. Edwards, Goody’s, and Raymond E. Silva, Western Piece Dyers and Finishers were also elected.
AATCC President Martin J. Bide, University of Rhode Island, presented the president's pin to current President-elect Fred L. Cook, Georgia Institute of Technology, who becomes president for a two-year term beginning the first of January 2009.
Other members of the board of directors for 2009 are: Martin J. Bide, Charles E. Gavin III, Richard S. Simonson, Keith R. Beck, Sandra L. Johnson.
Mary Brannon, Roland L. Connelly, Peter Hauser, Greg Scoggins, Philip J. Brown, and John Y. Daniels.
