The Academy of Art University School of Graphic Design held its second annual Alumni Homecoming event this past Thursday. The event, with a crowd of over 125 people, celebrated the professional work of the School of Graphic Design alums with the inaugural Alumni Design Show exhibit and awards presentation.
More than 100 pieces of real-world work designed by alums were on display and will remain on display until December 2, 2008. Academy of Art University's design school alumni have designed logos, packaging, identity, posters, annual reports, brochures, exhibits, displays, and specialty pieces for some of the most well-known international brands.
The Alumni Design Show exhibit includes work from clients such as Kettle Brand® Potato Chips, Clif ® Bar, Diet Coke®, XBOX® 360 Arcade, The NorthFace, See magazine, Pixar Animation Studios, Coors® Brewing Company, Williams Sonoma®, and Jack Daniels®.
The Alumni Design Show was a juried competition awarding five top honors. Noted design industry leaders Michele Ronsen, Vice President and Creative Director, Wells Fargo, San Francisco; and Ron Miriello, Director, Miriello Grafico, San Diego selected five winners to receive the School of Graphic Design Homecoming '08 red house award:
"It is amazing to see all of this work in one room, and to realize that we had the pleasure of teaching the creators of such wonderful design. We are so proud of them all. The Alumni Design Show is a great way for all to see what their peers are up to after graduation. We look forward to seeing the work the next Alumni Design Show will bring," says Mary Scott, Chair, School of Graphic Design.
