The yearly Australian International Design Awards is running for the eleventh time in 2009.
Their mission has always been to be one of the world's foremost design assessment and promotion bodies through which Australia may become more globally competitive in terms of design.
Entry is open to all professionally designed products available for sale in Australia including products available for delivery to Australia through online retail outlets.
Products are assessed on their own merits, not by category, however Awards may be presented in category order for ease of communication at the presentation night, exhibitions or in publications.
The categories for entry are:
Includes domestic appliances, whitegoods, homewares, consumer electronics, personal accessories, baby goods, toys and personal care
Includes professional products, office equipment, financial registers, communication terminals and commercial instruments
Includes medical and laboratory equipment, home health care and personal monitoring devices
Includes motor powered vehicles, automotive components and accessories, public and other modes of transport
Includes professional and recreational sporting equipment, camping gear and leisurewear
Includes construction equipment, building materials, plumbing, industrial fittings and fixtures
Includes heavy farming, mining, earthmoving and production equipment
Includes furniture, lighting, public spaces, textiles and object design
Australian Design Award - James Dyson Award, run in conjunction with Dyson. Includes conceptual projects from tertiary students of design across Australia.
Assessment will be done by a panel of design professionals through a series of elimination rounds.
