Singapore's most prestigious design award recognises the ability of Singapore designers to create outstanding and iconic designs that push the boundaries of design and enhance lives.

Launched in 2005, the President's Design Award acknowledges Singapore designers' ability to develop innovative designs that have contributed to Singapore's economy, environment and culture.

The Award is presented to designers and designs across all design disciplines.

"In these times of economic uncertainty, it has become even more imperative for businesses to leverage design to remain strong and competitive. I would like to congratulate the recipients of this year's Award.

Their outstanding designs have enhanced Singapore's position as a design hub and deepened our design culture," said Dr Milton Tan, Director, DesignSingapore Council.

Highlighting the importance of urban design in Singapore, Mrs Cheong Koon Hean, Chairperson, Architecture & Urban Design (A&UD) Jury Panel and Chief Executive Officer, Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) commented, "Urban design is about making connections between people and places, movement and urban form, nature and the built fabric."

"Singapore has succeeded in marrying architecture with sensitive urban design to capture the heart and soul of a place."

"This is what makes our city endearing to Singaporeans and visitors alike. This Award is also conferred on architects and designers whose bold and innovative designs have greatly enhanced our built environment. I congratulate them and look forward to more such groundbreaking works."
