Joining forces for the Christmas event of the season, Swarovski, the Knightsbridge Business Group and UNICEF unveiled the eagerly awaited five metre Swarovski Crystal Snowflake designed by leading lighting designer Ingo Maurer at The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London
‘It is a great honour to work with Ingo Maurer on the creation of the Swarovski Snowflake, which will light up Knightsbridge during the holiday season."
"We are grateful to the Knightsbridge Business Group to have approached us for this amazing project, and thrilled that a charity will benefit from the sale of the snowflake ornament.’ Nadja Swarovski
The Swarovski Crystal Snowflake was illuminated during an exclusive drinks reception.
Guests included designers Ron Arad, Elizabeth Emanuel, Pippa Small, Axel Schmid and the Lord Mayor of Westminster Louise Hyams.
The red carpet, scattered with Swarovski crystals, sparkled magically as the guests entered the hotel. In the grand entrance the Westminster choir sang Christmas carols to set the festive mood.
The evening was also accompanied by the Royal Household Cavalry who gave an impressive fanfare to announce the switch-on.
Speeches were given by Nadja Swarovski and Derek Picot about the project and Trudie Styler, UNICEF UK Ambassador, gave an inspiring and moving speech about the charity’s work with children world wide.
