Petit Bateau Receives Corporate Leadership Award
PRESS RELEASE

December 2008

Petit Bateau, the global iconic clothing brand from France, received the Corporate Leadership award at Room to Grow’s 10th anniversary gala auction chaired by Uma Thurman at Christie’s auction house in New York.

Petit Bateau was recognized for its collaboration with Room to Grow, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty during their critical first three years, as an exclusive retailer accepting in-store donations for free distribution by Room to Grow in New York and Boston.

Since its partnership began in January this year, the French company has also donated $50,000 of new merchandise to Room to Grow and encouraged volunteer activities by Petit Bateau employees.

“Our partnership with Room to Grow makes perfect sense because we are both dedicated to investing in our future - the future of children and the well-being of their parents,” said Philippe Berlan, Director General of Petit Bateau, who accepted the award at the event.

“Room to Grow's work offers greater hope and more comfortable lives for future generations. Petit Bateau was founded on values of quality and comfort that have been transmitted from generation to generation."

"We are proud that our employees initiated the idea to support Room to Grow, and we all look forward to enriching future generations together.”

Under the unique partnership, Petit Bateau boutiques in Manhattan, Hackensack, Greenwich and Boston have become local donation centers for Room to Grow.

New and gently used baby items are accepted at the stores, helping the organization accelerate and simplify collection and distribution to families.

“This innovative alliance sets a new model for Room to Grow and has allowed us to increase our donations considerably,” said Lexy Mayers, Executive Director of Room to Grow in New York, who presented the award to Berlan.

“We were delighted that Petit Bateau took the initiative to offer us such a creative idea for collaboration.”

The sold-out event, hosted by Christie’s auction house in Rockefeller Center, also honored Julie Burns, Room to Grow’s founder, for her dedication to a cause she identified and acted upon over ten years ago in a Harlem storefront.
