MAMi Media is opening doors to a whole new world of opportunities for models, photographers, writers and other creatives by creating an interactive networking scene for the fashion industry with their latest venture, ModelCity, an online community for models and other fashion industry professionals.
ModelCity allows for individuals to network, but also blog, stream video; upload their favorite songs, chat and more. In order to create a profile, models are required to upload at least five images onto the site.
“We intend to make this a vibrant, creative community,” says principal and founder of MAMi Media, Algie Dewitt IV.
One of Dewitt’s main goals for the site is to find models, writers and photographers who wish to be featured in upcoming editions of MAMi Media’s literary product, MAMi Magazine. Launched January 2002, MAMi Magazine is circulated to more than 100,000 people per month via the online and limited printed editions.
“ModelCity is poised to be what other model portals strive for but have not reached,” says Mr. deWitt, “taking the social networking trend and applying it to the fashion industry with all the perks of Facebook or MySpace complete with a news blog, forums, classifieds, casting area, video streaming, music selection and photo gallery. This is a tool that will become indispensable for many in the fashion industry.”
The production and objective of such a site as ModelCity is not one seen often and is unique in that it creates a straightforward, one-stop networking base for those in the fashion industry, generating more real opportunities for models.
