Artist Servon Depicts Emotional Rollercoaster With Installation At Art Center
PRESS RELEASE

January 2009

ArtCenter/South Florida presents Hanging On and Holding Out, an installation comprising painted walls, drawings, photographs, sculptures and video.

Born of the self-described emotional rollercoaster that redefined artist Jody Servon’s life, this exhibit responds to human nature and its inconspicuous moments in a candid manner.

Hanging On and Holding Out is about creating a visceral experience for viewers to explore, interpret and adopt for themselves.

This project has been part of both solo and group exhibitions at Contemporary Artist Center, MA; Graceland University, IA and University of Tulsa, OK.

Hailing from New Jersey, Servon currently resides and works in Blowing Rock and Greensboro, NC.

She received her Master’s in Fine Arts in New Genre from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Visual Art from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.

Servon is currently an assistant professor and director of the Catherine J. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University in Boone, and has been heralded for her work by The New York Times, New American Paintings and Tulsa World, to name a few.
