The largest and richest collection of Impressionist paintings ever to come to New Zealand will be at Te Papa Museum.
Monet and the Impressionists presents over 55 paintings from one of the world’s finest collections of 19th century French painting, held by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
This is a rare chance to see stunning works from Claude Monet’s Water Lily, Haystacks, and Rouen Cathedral series, alongside masterpieces by Renoir, Cézanne, Degas, and others.
Monet and his group broke from artistic tradition, capturing the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere to create works of incredible immediacy and beauty.
This breathtaking exhibition gives a unique insight into the world of the Impressionists and the emergence of its most celebrated artist, Claude Monet.
The selection of paintings highlights Monet’s interests and the scope of his achievements, as well as the contributions of his equally famous contemporaries to Impressionism.
