‘Valentine to Times Square’ 12 Foot Sculpture Designed by Gage/Clemenceau Ar
PRESS RELEASE

January 2009

The Times Square celebrates Valentine’s Day by unveiling “Valentine To Times Square,” a 12-foot high, 2-ton steel and luminescent acrylic, pulsing sculpture on 13 February 2009 on Broadway and 47th Street.

“Valentine to Times Square” was designed by the world-renowned Gage/Clemenceau Architects, and consists of sustainable LED light bulbs that will flicker between vibrant shades of reds, pinks and purples and is decorated with a heart-trimmed metal latticework that will absorb and reflect the surrounding colors of the bustling neighborhood.

The electric, ever-changing, colorful sculpture will symbolize Times Square’s relationship to New York City – the beating heart of this dynamic urban oasis. The bright lights and flashing signage of the iconic district will be absorbed by the metal, heart-shaped sculpture and cast-off colorful patterns and shadows.

In addition, jewelry designer Zales will award a 1.5 carat Celebration Diamond solitaire ring to the winners of the “Declare Your Love” Contest. Participants have been submitting their declarations of love in written, video or musical form, and five finalists will be flown to New York where they will publicly announce their love at the “Valentine to Times Square” sculpture.
