In the spirit of collaboration, VCUQatar is spearheading the formation of a Middle East Design Educators Association (MEDEA), which will take place during Mousharaka: Icograda Design Week in Qatar.
The MEDEA meeting will be held on Monday, 2 March 2009 to discuss MEDEA's relationship to the Icograda Education Network (IEN).
VCUQatar has slated three speakers who will focus on designers of the future and integration of design opportunities into business, civil society, design entrepreneurship, design leadership etc.
This will provide an excellent opportunity for designer educators to meet and discuss issues facing design education specific to their region.
Professor Peter Martin has been assigned as a facilitator, to work with VCUQatar to generate a mission or vision statement and an agenda for future MEDEA meetings. VCUQatar expects to create a database of people and institutions who are interested in this action.
VCUQatar is inviting universities in the Middle East to participate by offering one complimentary conference pass for a member of each university interested in attending in the MEDEA gathering.
