Teehan+Lax has announced that Image Spark, a creative resource pool is now live.
The eagerly anticipated tool enables creative professionals to capture and tag images and instantly upload them to a community-based site accessible to colleagues.
Users can choose to mark their images as public or private, and are able to browse all public images to see what is inspiring their peers.
Image Spark also lets users drag images onto moodboards that they can share with their team to help determine the visual tone and style of any given project.
Teehan+Lax decided to build Image Spark after realizing it would help them share images internally more efficiently.
“We all have our own sources of inspiration. Oftentimes, it’s not an entire website, but rather an element of a blog, or a data visualization in a news article, or typography examples,” explains Geoff Teehan, a partner at Teehan+Lax.
“We realized we could share Image Spark with the design community because it can be useful for professionals beyond just web design. Whether you’re an interior designer, an architect or a fashion designer, if you need to visually capture ideas or inspiration, this will hopefully be a great help.”
Image Spark is a product of Teehan+Lax’s labs initiative that lets employees take a break from client work to pursue projects for the sake of being creative, and to expand their technical skill-sets by using new programs.
“It’s a better way to learn new skills than reading a book or going to a conference,” says Teehan.
Teehan+Lax dedicated a core team of four to work on Image Spark for three months.
“It’s about an opportunity to be creative beyond the confines of a specific business plan or strategy.”
Image Spark has already been generating a lot of buzz; almost 1,000 people signed up for the Image Spark mailing list pre-launch.
