In the third in a series of mini-documentaries for Lexus hybrids, Los Angeles-based Boxer Films director Jeffrey DeChausse shows engineers are working to convert energy from the world around us for new uses.
This final installment for Lexus' online branding campaign, "Bridge" :90/3x:30 out of Team One, El Segundo, CA, features Japanese engineer Yoshifumi Nagata explaining how "it's not enough to inherit the technology of the past... and right now it's about the environment.
Nagata shows how traffic vibrations from cars traveling over Toyko's Goshiki Sakura Bridge are captured and coverted to electricity powering the expressway lights.
Previous installments in the Lexus' "Good Things" campaign include DeChausse's "Solar Trees," demonstrating how solar power is harnessed to create sculptural, and highly functional, outdoor lighting 'trees,' which function off the grid, and "Landfill," showing how industrial shipping containers are reused and redesigned to build green homes.
