February 2009
In February 2009 zona#3: blurring boundaries has been released as supplement to the prestigious architecture, design and art magazine Abitare.
This issue of zona belongs to the set of publications "zona: for the observation of an unstable territory", the editorial project of the Faculty of Design and Arts of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
Planned as a halfyearly supplement for Abitare, zona can be seen as unique evidence of cooperation between academic teaching and research and an international magazine for architecture, design and art that appeals to a wide, sophisticated readership of experts and specialists.
For this reason, zona occupies a cultural interface.
It explores the boundaries between disciplines by examining them critically and partly abolishing them in order to re-define them.
zona#3 has taken blurring boundaries specifically as its theme.
By doing this it is addressing one of the most important cultural techniques of the modern age; namely dynamic blurring, abolition and re-definition of cultural boundaries; in more general terms, the tectonic fault lines that define the very centre of cultures.
