Sony has added five new cameras to its Cyber-Shot line: DSC-T900, DSC-T90, DSC-W290, DSC-W230 and DSC-H20, and they all include the intelligent auto mode that gives users picture-perfect shots without users fumbling over settings.
The intelligent auto mode thinks for users by detecting scene conditions and adjusting settings accordingly; particularly for difficult lighting scenarios. It enhances pictures by capturing natural skin tones, avoiding subjects with closed eyes and reduce image blur without damage to image quality.
With this improved technology, Karim Noblecilla, Senior Product Marketing Manager in Sony Electronics’ Digital Imaging Division says, “You can go from a walk in the park to taking pictures of a flower and then back to beautiful landscapes or indoor birthday parties, and the camera will know what to do to get the best shot.”
The intelligent auto mode combines three technologies: Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) that detects up to eight scenes, recognizes objects, faces and lighting conditions to provide the optimal shooting settings; Face Detection that registers up to eight faces and adjusts focus, exposure, white balance, flash and motion to avoid blur; and Blink Detection that identifies closed eyes in portraits by taking two shots at once to produce one where the subject does not have closed eyes.
All of these cameras have the Optical SteadyShot feature that prevents blur from camera shake and Smile Shutter technology that detects smiles and captures them instantly.
Not just making operation options more user-friendly, Sony has also equipped this new line with tools to edit, archive and share. They also have in-camera retouch features like red-eye correction and image management to easily sort through thousands of photos in calender or album view.
There is the PhotoMusic feature that enables slideshows in HD mode complete with transitions preferences and music for viewing on-camera or television.
For organizing pictures on a computer and uploads to the Internet, there is the ‘Bundled Picture Motion Browser’ (PMB) software that allows users to search and organize images by event, smile or face, including children and infants then display them in calendar or chronological views organized into folders.
