Los Angeles Art Weekend is a four-day event highlighting the city's foremost in cultural offerings and the vast array of creative talent working in art, architecture, design and performance.
In 2006, Los Angeles Art Weekend started as a pilot program developed by Brian Phillips of BlackFrame for visiting journalists to navigate the tremendous artistic diversity of Los Angeles during one weekend of behind the scenes tours, special events and intimate conversations with artists.
Last year's highlights included a special screening and book preview of A Maysles Scrapbook with legendary filmmaker and documentarian, Albert Maysles, at the Billy Wilder Theater.
The opening of the first ever Los Angeles pop-up Storefront for Art and Architecture; an opening of Brent Stewart's Mister Lonely Portraits, photographed on the set of Harmony Korine's film Mister Lonely; Catherine Opie's exhibition of portraits of high school football players at Regen Projects II; and the grand opening of Royal/T, the first U.S. maid cafe, shop and art space, in Culver City.
