Every year, a film receives an Oscar from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for being the Best Picture of the year.
In a recent Fandango poll, however, 81 per cent of moviegoers say that the Academy’s picks are out of touch with mainstream film choices where none of those in 2008 in the top 10 box office hits ranks among the Academy’s five Best Picture choices.
Now, Fandango is asking fans to vote online for the film that truly deserves the honor and the results will be presented at ShoWest, a theatre convention in April.
Besides casting votes for the best picture, participants also stand a chance to attend the awards ceremony live in Las Vegas on a free four-day/three-night getaway.
Voting ends on February 27, 2009.
