In the past ten years Chinese contemporary art has exploded.
The art scene has developed at breakneck speed in the wake of the Cultural Revolution’s collapse and of unique economic growth.
In the summer of 2009 ARKEN presents an exquisite selection of Chinese contemporary art which focuses on China’s past and post-Olympic present.
With laughing clowns, grotesque bodies and yawning bald men executed in versatile idioms, the artists explore what China's radical upheavals from Communism to Consumerism mean to the individual Chinese's understanding of self, life perspective and dreams.
