The ‘Hollywood NetAwards,’ co-chaired by "New York Times" bestselling author, web pioneer, and founder of the Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, Carlos de Abreu, and Digital Advisors President, Bruce Eisen, announce the 2008 winners.
‘Best Entertainment Site’ went to TMZ.com; ‘Best Game Site’ to Gamespot.com; ‘Best Movie Studio Site’ to UniversalPictures.com; ‘Best Music Site’ to Pandora.com; ‘Best TV Network Site’ to ComedyCentral.com; ‘Best Video Site’ to Hulu.com; ‘Best Original Video Site’ to SuperDeluxe.com; and Best Web Series Site’ to Derek & Simon: The Show.
"Our vision provides for the merger of existing media with future technologies by recognizing achievement and innovation in a variety of disciplines that will continue to propel the industry into the global online community, as well as the discovery of new creative talent," de Abreu said.
"The Web has become a significant entertainment medium which Hollywood is just starting to embrace," added Eisen. "It's important to recognize the leaders in the field and, by doing so, encourage the further use of the Internet as an entertainment vehicle."
The blue-ribbon selection committee included Simon Assaad, Founder/CEO, Heavy.com; Gilles BianRosa, CEO, Vuze.com; David Cook, President, CinemaNow.com; Steve Doctrow, EVP, Rogers & Cowan; Chris Dorr, Global Head of Content Partnerships, Video & TV, Nokia.com; Jennifer Fader, VP EMedia, Rogers & Cowan; Eyal Hertzog, Founder, Metacafe.com; Teemu Huuhtanen, President, North America, Sulake, Inc.; Dmitry Shapiro, Founder, Veoh.com; Elliot Solomon, Director Business Development, Disney Online Studios.
The criteria was based on content, interactivity, structure and navigation, visual design functionality and overall experience.

Best Music Site: MySpace.com, Pandora.com, emusic.com, imeem.com, lastfm.com.
Best TV Network (Broadcast and Cable) Site: ABC.com, NBC.com, MTV.com, ComedyCentral.com, CartoonNetwork.com.
Best Video (Movies, TV, others) Site: Hulu.com, Amazon.com, SouthParkStudios.com, Joost.com, Crackle.com.
Best Web Original Video Site: Machinima.com, Blip.tv, TheWebisodes.com, SuperDeluxe.com, LivFilms.com.
Best Web Video Series (Webisodes) Site: PINK The Series, The Retarded Policeman, Kate Modern, Gemini Division, Derek & Simon: The Show.
The ‘Hollywood NetAwards’ are an annual event and were created by the Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards.
