EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Haus der Wirtschaft
Stuttgart

05 May – 09 May 2009

The 14th International Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Digital Media is back again, this time, chock full of feature appearances by the industry’s biggest names.

In the lineup discussing developments in digital imagery are prominent managers, creatives and curators including:

  • Chris Defaria, Executive Vice President Digital Production, Animation and Visual Effects at Warner Bros., discusses his work on Watchmen and further projects including ‘300’ and ‘Harry Potter–Order of the Phoenix’ with Eric Roth, Director of the Visual Effects Society (VES).

  • Chris Williams, Director of Disney's ‘Bolt,’ appears with colleagues Paul Felix (Art Director), Adolph Lusinsky (Look & Lighting Director) and Robert Neuman (Stereo Lead)

  • Danielle Feinberg, Director of Photography for Lighting ‘Wall-E’

  • Michael Faust, CG artist from the Oscar-nominated animated documentary ‘Waltz with Bashir’

  • Steve Preeg and Jonathan Litt from Digital Domain on ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’

  • Jeff Okun, Visual Effects Supervisor on ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still,’ ‘Blood Diamond,’ ‘Last Samurai’

  • Joseph Olin, President of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), curates the intense games focus

  • Christophe Héry, Research & Development Lead at ILM, curates the newest edition of the ‘Reihe Virtual Humans’ forum

One thematic focus of this year's event is the increasingly popular and aesthetically expansive 3D stereoscopic technologies. In order to see what's being talked about in its full glory, presentations in this series will take place in the Metropol cinema only blocks away from the main venue, right next to the Festival of Animated Film.

China presents another thematic emphasis, and host Kevin Geiger exposes the region in ‘Focus on China.’ Among other highlights: the Beijing Film Academy, the Peking animation and VFX producer Xing Xing Digital Corp., as well as SOFA Studios from Taiwan.
