OgilvyPR UK Scoops Two New Global Technology Accounts
PRESS RELEASE

February 2009

Ogilvy PR London has secured a duo of corporate technology retainer wins following a new business push that is building on the agency's global network force and London's strength as a hub in the Pan-European region.

The significant new clients include MTS, Russian mobile phone operator, and Taiwanese network storage solutions provider Infortrend, both of which Ogilvy PR won after global competitive pitches at the end of last year.

The London hub will be instrumental in leading and coordinating global corporate technology PR campaigns involving specialist corporate profiling drives and global messaging campaigns.

"Focusing on multi-regional accounts completely plays to our strength as a network agency. MTS and Infortrend are key examples of the recent trend of an increasing number of new business opportunities coming out of the Russian and Asian regions," says Ogilvy PR's EMEA Managing Director Ash Coleman-Smith.

"We're certainly on a roll with new technology clients. These three hits are an enormous success for our tech PR practice and build on our IT and telecoms sector expertise," adds Ogilvy PR's London technology lead Clare Gibbins.

Won after a two-way global pitch, the corporate retainer work for MTS, which services over 91 million subscribers in the fast-growing Russian and CIS market, starts this month with account activities split between Ogilvy PR's London and New York offices. Ogilvy PR will focus on intensive corporate and CEO reputation positioning with influencers in Europe and the U.S. supporting the company's investor relations agenda.

"Following our agency review, we selected the team at Ogilvy PR based on the strength of their strategic thinking and approach, as well as Ogilvy PR's global credentials," says Andrei Terebenin, Vice President of Corporate Communications at MTS.

Covering seven countries in three regions, Infortrend's PR programme has the widest regional scale. The global account will be led by Asia while the London office will be coordinating the European network including the UK, France and Germany. Account work for the Taiwanese pioneer of cost-effective, high performance IT storage products already began last month.

Following a competitive pitch, Ogilvy PR was engaged on a project last December to promote Infortrend's collaboration with animation studio Framestore on Universal Studios' animated feature film, ‘The Tale of Despereaux.’

"Ogilvy PR's creative approach to corporate technology PR is like a breath of fresh air and the team just convinced us with their originality, enthusiasm and broadcast and digital abilities. Working with them on The Tale of Despereaux project was the testing ground that paved the way for our future cooperation," says Infortrend's EMEA marketing director Jon Ashley.

Only last year the Canary Wharf-based agency was appointed by three clients from rising markets and sectors to handle international corporate and consumer PR programmes.

Ogilvy PR London is currently handling the European press office of Russian airline Aeroflot and ProChile's global retainer.
