PTC, The Product Development Company, has helped Deuce Snowboards with its CoCreate software to design and launch a new category in snowboarding, the multi-edge snowboard.
PTC’s explicit 3D CAD software enabled Deuce to develop and launch revolutionary innovation while keeping upfront product development cost as low as possible.
Finding a snowboard design that would allow boarders to experience the same stability and performance benefits of two-board skiing quickly led Deuce Snowboards Executive Manager, Todd Belt, to an innovative design idea for a new multi-edge snowboard.
For that, CoCreate gave Belt the possibilities of making all the right adjustments through multiple virtual 3D CAD prototypes without the expenses of building real test pieces just for testing and adjustments.
CoCreate proved just easy to use and as a modelling software, had the right amount of intuition, giving the right feedback to varying factors that was needed for Belt to test and run his ideas before going into production.
"PTC CoCreate makes changes easy for complex parts as the design progresses from variation to variation," says Belt.
"A key advantage from using CoCreate is the ability to easily make instant design changes to the model's geometry. We plan to continue using CoCreate in the design of this exciting new snowboard."
