Shoe giant Skechers USA is taking new efforts to promote its affiliate program in a bid to extend the reach of online advertising efforts.
The Skechers affiliate program represents a recent push by the national retailer for online growth to harness a younger demographic that embraces the Internet as a fundamental part of their lives.
Skechers VP Direct Marketing and ECommerce, Laura Christine, recognizes this trend as moving in the direction of user-generated content, and for this reason an affiliate program seems to be an essential addition to current advertising efforts.
"With the popularity of blogs and personal websites growing constantly, we wanted an organized way to place our offers on these pages as well as on larger sites. An affiliate program is ideal because it saves us the time and effort of finding worthwhile publishers. This way, they find us, and there is little in upfront costs to ensure a return on investment," says Christine.
The affiliate program allows website owners to earn commissions by placing Skechers advertisements on their websites. This process is facilitated through software that tracks the number of visitors and sales each affiliate sends, making it possible for Skechers to offer a commission for any sales that result from affiliates' efforts.
