IDSA National Conference

The IDSA National Conference is the largest of its kind in the U.S., drawing between 600 and 800 design professionals from all areas of the industry and from all around North America, Europe and Asia.

The 2006 IDSA National Conference is in Austin, Texas from September 17 till 20.

Why Austin?
If you've never visited Austin before, you may have wondered why IDSA chose it to host its 2006 National Conference, Sept. 17-20. Not just the "Live Music Capital of the World," Austin is a vibrant, multicultural hub of diversity, creativity and innovation, and ranked #2 on Richard Florida's list of U.S. cities for creative people, according to his book The Rise of the Creative Class. What better location to bring together the most creative thinkers in design and business?

Why Austin? Austin nurtures scores of musicians, artists, entrepreneurs and a fabled laid-back lifestyle. One of the new "creative Meccas," it offers something to inspire everyone. Music? A world-renowned live music scene, from blues and country to opera and symphony. Film? A burgeoning film industry and indie film community. Art? Dozens of museums and galleries, from modern to folk art. Outdoor recreation? Abundant parks, trails, lakes, swimming holes and waterfalls. History? State capital, presidential library, University of Texas and a Guttenberg Bible. Hundreds of high-tech firms. Cultural diversity. Great food. And the bats. (Yes, the bats.)

Austin prides itself on being far from ordinary, an apt description for this year's interactive, exciting conference as well. Prepare to roll up your sleeves and explore the elements of change in our global community. Prepare to learn, be inspired and reconnect with colleagues in the design community. (And for music lovers, arrive early and catch the Austin City Limits Music Festival, September 15-17!)
