Preeminent Danish designer Professor Per Mollerup has been appointed Professor of Communication Design at Swinburne University's Faculty of Design.
Mollerup is world renowned for visual identity and signage systems at airports in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm, as well as the Copenhagen Metro system.
For 25 years he was Managing Director of Mollerup Designlab in Denmark and is widely recognised for his research and writing on design and design policy.
He will deliver a free public lecture on Wayshowing at Swinburne.
The idea behind Wayshowing is that the objective of signage should be to show the user of signs the way, rather than requiring the user to find the way.
According to Mollerup, "wayshowing" and "wayfinding" relate to each other as do writing and reading, teaching and learning, or cooking and eating.
In his presentation he will examine international signage systems and architectural landmarks in detail.
