New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) will be celebrating Earth Day with a special lecture by sustainable-design expert David Oakey.
His presentation, Respect for the Future, will provide an in-depth overview of how nature can become a mentor for design and trace his transition from questioning the sustainability movement nearly a decade ago to becoming a leader in sustainable design.
Oakey leads global efforts in sustainable or "smart design" inspired by biomimicry, a discipline that applies nature's designs and processes to solve human problems.
He works with architects, designers, and business leaders to change their approach to the "design" process and reconsider materials, products, and processes within the entire business realm.
