Hill & Knowlton Sydney (H&K) has been honoured as marketing agency of record for the National Indigenous Development Centre (NIDC).
The NIDC, opening in Redfern later this year, will provide sporting, educational, arts/cultural and leadership development opportunities for thousands of Indigenous young people from across Australia. The opening of the NIDC is a major milestone for the Indigenous community and the country as a whole.
H&K will be working with the NIDC to implement an integrated marketing program, which will include brand development, government relations, social media programs, community relations, digital strategy, sponsorships, direct mail programs and media outreach.
"We needed a marketing partner who not only had the right expertise and skills but also the passion and understanding of the significance of this new centre," said Sam Jeffries, Deputy Chairperson of the Indigenous Land Corporation who is funding the NIDC and project managing its development.
"The H&K team has every area of expertise we were looking for, demonstrating a high level of strategic thinking, creativity and enthusiasm as well as complementing our vision for the NIDC."
"The team at H&K is excited to be part of such a worthwhile project as the NIDC. We look forward to playing a vital role in the launch and ongoing success of this great new facility," said Andrew Collett, Managing Director, Hill & Knowlton.
When completed it is estimated more that 5,000 Indigenous people from across Australia will use the NIDC each year. The NIDC will provide educational, training, employment, organisational governance, capacity building, sporting, recreational, arts, cultural, and accommodation facilities for young Indigenous people from remote and regional Australia.
The NIDC will house a 25-metre outdoor heated swimming pool; indoor community sports and recreation centre; sports training field; multi-use classrooms; campus accommodation; and dining facilities for up to 100 people. In addition, the NIDC will be home to a state-of- the-art fitness centre available for local residents of Redfern.
H&K Sydney was named ‘APAC PR Agency of the Year’ at the Asia Pacific PR awards in 2007 and was a top 3 finalist in the same category in 2008; in both years the agency was the only Australian nominee.
