Volkswagen’s Golf has once again received five stars in the EuroNCAP evaluation on safety.
The European crash test program awarded the five stars, the highest accord, even with stricter and more comprehensive assessment criteria in place.
Since February this year, a vehicle must receive a minimum value in all categories: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Pedestrian Protection and Safety Assist, as well as a good score in the overall assessment to pick up five stars.
The process of testing up to now had been applied since 1997 and only tested the frontal crash, the side crash and pedestrian protection.
In the new assessment procedure, electronic safety and assistant systems, which help to prevent accidents and avoid serious injury, are also included in the evaluation. That and, a rear crash test to provide information on the load on the cervical spine.
The new EuroNCAP rating helps customers not only quickly determine the overall safety rating of a vehicle, it also helps them make easy comparisons between other buys in their interest.
