Youngsters Invited To Fill In Olympic Logo
PRESS RELEASE

March 2009

Youngsters in full- or part-time education are invited to create a new design to infill the London 2012 Olympic logo.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has launched a national competition for 16- to 21-year olds in education to create with the infilled design, which will become the official London 2012 education logo.

This identity will be applied to schools, colleges and local authority education providers who join the ‘Get Set’ network, the official London 2012 education programme.

The closing date for entries is 5 June, after which four to six finalists will present their designs to a panel of judges including BMX world champion Shanaze Reade.

The winning logo, which will be used in print and digital media, will be unveiled in September.

Sebastian Coe, London 2012 chairman, says, "Schools and colleges wanting to join the Get Set network must place young people in the driving seat and empower them to demonstrate a commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values."

"Thus, it is only right that the logo we award be designed by young creative talent. The competition demonstrates our commitment to involve young people in the London 2012 Games in many different ways."
