Global colour authority Pantone has revealed its predictions for the lively colours that will dominate home furnishings and interior design going into 2010.
The paint and tone specialist has created eight distinct palettes using 78 various colours and also included a range of tinged neutrals in its forecast.
Among the palettes are the gastronomically-themed Greenmarket, including apple green, super lemon, Dijon and paprika and Gatherings, which is inspired by the cypress greens, smokey blues and twilight mauves of Africa.
Meanwhile, Galaxy mirrors the colours of the solar system, with extrateristrial blues and silvers and rich gold to embody the sun.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone, explained that the colour trends are derived from 'much observation of our surrounding natural world as well as the influences that will impact our world in the future'.
She added that the palettes are designed to translate the 'needs, moods, fantasies and aspirations of consumers' into appropriate colour combinations that best reflect their personalities.
The other Pantone themes are; Resourceful, Transformations, Ambiance, Galaxy, High Definition and Pastiche.
Last month, the institute published its fashion clothing colour report for the upcoming autumn season
It suggested that purple heart, honey yellow, crème brûlée and burnt sienna will be among the top seasonal shades.
