The Month of Photography Los Angeles (MOPLA) continues its month-long celebration of photography with exhibitions, workshops, lectures and projections. Tuesday night was highlighted by a flurry of photo exhibition openings, all at the legendary Pacific Design Center on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, CA.
Hundreds attended including legendary photographers Douglas Kirkland, Nick Ut, and Jeff Dunas as well as Lauren Wendle, Photo District News, Dr. Anthony Bannon, George Eastman House, Patricia Lanza of the Annenberg Space for Photography.
That evening, both emerging and established photographers were seen in a variety of spaces at the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Avenue at the corner of San Vicente Blvd in West Hollywood.
The exhibitions include: Tim Mantoani's BEHIND PHOTOGRAPHS, Photo District News' EMERGING 30, B+, GHOST NOTES, Mark Edward Harris's THE AXIS OF EVIL, John Delaney's GOLDEN EAGLE HUNTERS OF MONGOLIA, and Jim McHugh's REMARKABLE: PLACES + FACES. Most of the photographers were in attendance.
These unique exhibitions were open to the public for the evening. As an inclusive event, MOPLA aims to inspire and engage the professional, enthusiast, emerging artist and collector, both young and seasoned. This effort will organize and galvanize the already thriving photography and art community in LA.
Brian Cross, also known as B+, added to the party atmosphere by playing great music throughout the evening.

"Seeing some of the shining photo-stars illuminated at night during the 4 evening projections defines the unique creative spirit of the Los Angeles photo community."
"Our aim is to make photography accessible to the public through both traditional and non-traditional platforms", says MOPLA co-founder Hossein Farmani. All agreed that this event reached its goal.
With a month of lectures, workshops, and projections MOPLA will showcase a vibrant display of talent in an array of photographic exhibitions and events. Both emerging and established photographers will be seen in conventional and non-traditional venues.
MOPLA is grateful for the generous support of our opening night partners: The Pacific Design Center, Presidential Standard Vodka, and Lagunitas Brewing Company.
